After over three seasons playing for his hometown La Ronge Ice Wolves, Broncos defenseman Bryce Fiske suited up for the final time at Mel Hegland Uniplex on Saturday night.

Fiske, who was acquired by Humboldt early in the season, was able to get in two more games in his old rink, as he wraps up his junior career following this season.

"It's obviously a little bit different being on the other side of the rink, but it felt good to be back and back in the Mel."

With the Ice Wolves missing the playoffs, Humboldt's trip up north on February 23-24 was the final opportunity for Fiske to play in La Ronge.

While Fiske said that leaving his old team was quite emotional, he feels that Humboldt has been the best landing spot for him.

"It's been a great experience. Everything is great. Billets, team, great group of guys and stuff like that. When I asked for a trade that is kind of what I looked for, so it's been awesome."

"Humboldt has become a great place for me to be."

Fiske has stood out at both ends of the ice since joining the Broncos.

He has 27 points in 39 games, which in itself, is the most points he has recorded in a season. His physical game has also helped bring stability to an already strong Broncos defensive group.

The Broncos have three games left in what has been their most productive regular season since 2012-13.

An opportunity to play in the postseason is something Fiske won't be taking for granted in his final year, as it has been a rarity for him.

"I played seven playoff games by 18-year-old year and we were knocked out by Melfort. My 17-year-old year and last year we didn't make playoffs, so I looked for a team that was going to make a run and had a tight group like this."

The Broncos have three games left in the regular season and will finish in fifth place, setting up an opening round series against the rival Melfort Mustangs.
