Another slow start was the Broncos nemesis Tuesday night as their valiant comeback effort fell short versus Nipawin who hung on for a 4-3 victory over Humboldt at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

The Hawks got first period goals from Chase Thudium, Taylor Lotoski and Eric Bolden giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead and they would need everyone of those plus a third period marker to hold off the Broncos comeback attempt.

Trevor Posch slapped his sixth goal of the season past Michael Barabash late in the opening frame giving Humboldt life going to the first break trailing 3-1.

Andrew McCann would score his first with the green and gold in the second off a Posch pass getting the home side to within one but that's as close as they would come.

In the third, Nipawin got the insurance they needed off the stick of Evan Mignault inside the four minute mark of the final frame.

Laramie Kostelansky didn't give up on a rebound chance in front of Barabash burying his third of the year but the Broncos couldn't find the equalizer losing their second straight since winning back to back last weekend.

Ryan LaRochelle suffering his second straight loss making 16/20 saves, Barabash earned the win kicking aside 26/29 Humboldt chances.

The Broncos did win the special team battle, they were 1/2 on the power-play with Posch's goal coming via the man advantage, the Hawks were 1/4.

Humboldt will now regroup and get set to host the Melfort Mustangs Friday night at 7:30. Saturday they return to the Northern Lights Palace to close the 2015 portion of their schedule.

That game can be heard on KMK Sales Broncos' hockey beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15, puck drop is 7:30.

There was no other games in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Tuesday night.
