Three teams from the Humboldt area are basking in the championship glow after winning provincial tournaments.

In Regina, the Bantam Humboldt Dodgers downed the Regina White Sox 6-2 to earn another provincial championship.

Last year, the Dodgers won the provincial title, beating Unity. This year, with redrawn formats, the Dodgers participated in the AA Tier 3 tournament.

Their first game of the weekend was also against the White Sox - a 8-7 win. From there, they defeated the Regina Blue Jays 13-3 and Saskatoon Cardinals 16-3. 

In the semi-final, Humboldt edged the Regina Buffalos 3-1.


The Watrous Lakers hosted teams from Gull Lake, Wynyard, Rosetown, Battlefords and Lloydminster for the Peewee AA Tier 4 provincial tournament.

The host team opened with a 10-9 win over Gull Lake and posted a 2-1 round robin record with a 20-10 win over Rosetown and a 16-6 setback against Lloydminster.

Wynyard went 3-0 in early tournament play with wins of 20-4, 13-8 and 18-12 over Rosetown, Gull Lake and Lloydminster.

In the semi-finals, Wynyard downed Gull Lake 11-1, while the Lakers got revenge against Lloydminster with a 19-5 win.

With the provincial title on the line, it was Wynyard completing the unbeaten tournament with a 14-6 win.

In Muenster, the Red Sox played host to two tournaments, welcoming teams in Bantam AA Tier 2 and Mosquito AA Tier 3.

The Mosquito Red Sox came out of the weekend with gold medals as they earned a 6-1 win over the Dinsmore Dynamos in the championship game.

Their path to the final included victories of 9-2, 19-0 and 12-1 over the Coronach Nationals, Lloydminster Twins and Melfort Selects.

They met Melfort in the semi-final for a rematch, edging the Selects by a 8-6 count.
