Following six straight years of district titles for Lake Lenore, there was a new overall team champion at Horizon Central cross country districts on Thursday.

William Derby School from Strasbourg claimed the district team title, finishing with eight points - one point better than Lake Lenore.

The Vikings were led by Brayden and Adam Mytopher, as well as Alyson Edwards, who all won their respective races.

Lake Lenore also had three individual race winners, with Dalton Kiedrowski, Jade Smith, and Claire Moorman.

Other individual winners included: Alyssa Regie (LeRoy), Koby Faubert (Wadena), Cara Dobrohoczki (Middle Lake), Rylen Sigstad (Lanigan), Kira Wignes (Viscount), and Liam Reineke (St. Augustine Humboldt).

The top 10 finishers in Senior, Junior and Midget categories advance to provincials, which will be held in Turtleford on October 14.


Humboldt Collegiate Institute had 12 runners qualify for provincials.

In the Senior categories, Rylan Marianchuk, Seth Schuler, Makenna Gerwing and Jenna Giddings advanced.

For Junior runners, it was Garrett Brown moving on, while Midget athletes saw Teijon Abel-Douglas, Jay Eichorst, Julianna Engele-Lueke, Emma Abrey, Lauren Hinz, Sydney Hilbert and Kiana Leicht move on.
