The St. Brieux Sr. Boys Basketball team is taking a trip south of the border this holiday season.

St. Brieux's team of ten players are headed to Gillette, Wyoming from December 26th to the 30th for a tournament. The Energy Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament is a showcase of teams from around the United States.

Every year for the tournament one Canadian team is invited to participate. This year two teams from Canada were selected to take part with Red Deer and St. Brieux being the two teams representing the Great White North.

So far the St. Brieux Crusaders are 8-1 this season and won provincials in the 2A Sr. Boys division last year. The coaches are looking forward to showing their strengths at the tournament this year.

"It's one of the top tournaments in the region, and we are going to play some of the best basketball teams in the States. We are a small school but we think we are competitive and we want to showcase our talent level is here." Said Ryan Trumbley, head coach of the Crusaders.

This is the first time the Crusaders have taken part in the Energy Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament.
