It wasn't easy but in the end it was a rookie from Saskatoon that secured two points in LaRonge Saturday night for the Broncos.

Brayden Camrud scored his first career Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League goal in the second period plus he was the only shooter of 14 to score as the Broncos snuck out a 3-2 win over the Ice Wolves snapping their five game losing streak.

"We came together as a team, we played really well," the 18 year-old said after the game. "It's a new rink for some of the guys so it was different experience. It put us to the test and we came out with the win."

Early in the first period it appeared to be another long night at the rink as an early penalty allowed the Wolves' Tristan Elder to score a power-play goal making it 1-0. Humboldt has fell behind in the first in every loss during the slide.

They would respond and take a 1-1 score into the second however, Levi Hulston also recorded his first SJHL tally. Nic Malenica was credited with the assist as the two created the chance with a good physical forecheck.

Camrud's first from Erik Gardiner and Chris Van Os-Shaw came just under two minutes into the middle frame.

The Wolves kept coming and would tie the game, Craig Pejkovic banked a rebound past Garrett Mason 3:38 into the third period.

The goalies continued to go stop for stop, ironically both Mason and Aaron MacKay hail from Okotoks, Alberta. Mason kicked aside 44 shots through 65 minutes, he also stoned all seven Ice Wolve shooters.

MacKay was 31/33 and 6/7 in the SO allowing just Camrud's winner.

"It was a little bit of a monkey off the back, both personally and as a team," Camrud added. "This is a good start for more success coming our way. We had a good start and kind of slipped off but I think we're getting back on the right track."

LaRonge was awarded just that early man advantage, Humboldt didn't get their one and only chance on the power-play until 3:13 of the five minute overtime. It was unsuccessful which self explanatory.

The Broncos will finish November in Yorkton Tuesday night, the pre-game show begins at 7:15, face-off is 7:30.

Camrud said it would be nice to close the month on a high.

"It would be a good finish November, it would be a really big momentum swing into December, that's what this team needs right now. If everybody pulls together and works just as hard as we have been these last few games I think we will be able to pull off the win in Yorkton."

Elsewhere Saturday night, Notre Dame fell 4-2 to Kindersley, Melfort edged Nipawin 3-2, also in a shoot-out. Yorkton bounced back and took the back end of a home and home with Melville winning 5-2 and Weyburn flew over Estevan 4-2.
