It wasn't like any other Junior A exhibition game, this one was special.

The Broncos travelled to Peace River, Alberta for a pair of games to honor Darcy Haugan in his home town, and the other 28 members of the Broncos who were on the bus on April 6th. All the proceeds of the two exhibition games going to the Haugan family who were in attendance.

Before the start of the game there was a ceremony to remember and honor the 16 lives lost and the 13 others including a moment of silence and a ceremonial puck drop with Darcy Haugan's wife, Christina, and his two sons, Jackson and Carson.

The Wolverines, who went to the Divisional Finals last year before losing to the eventual AJHL champions Spruce Grove Saints, would open up the scoring early as less than three minutes. Kurtis Labant would bang in a pass sent front from behind the net from his brother Brayden Labant to put the Wolverines on the board.

It would take untill the second frame for the goal light to come back on but this time it was the Humboldt Broncos getting one behind the goalie Tye Morin. Brayden Camrud one of the returning players for the Broncos did most of the hard work as he slipped between two Whitecourt defenders, fired a shot on net that bouced off Morin and landed right next to Damon Vanderlinde who tucked it home.

In the third frame the Wolverines would snap the tie with not one, but two goals back to back in under 30 seconds.

The Broncos would keep things interesting with under a minute left and on the powerplay Head Coach, Nathan Oysterick would pull goalie Dawson Cochrane for the two man advantage and it would pay off. With chaos in front of the net in the Whitecourt zone, Owen Guenter found the loose puck and slid it in to get within one. However, off the ensuing faceoff, Cochrane would head to the bench once again but this time Kurtis Labant would steal the puck, skate down the ice and score his second goal of the game to put the finishing nails in what was an entertaining contest. The final score ending in a 4-2 loss for the Broncos.

The arena was sold out with 1800 plus in attendance and will not be forgotten by the players and specators any time soon.
