The Humboldt Broncos secured their second win in a row against the Melville Millionaires and didn't need overtime to do it.

The first two contests between these teams needed the extra frame. The Broncos were victorious in both those games. This time around, Humboldt exploded offensively for 6 goals and was too powerful for the Melville Millionaires on all sides of the game.

It was Pink the Rink at the Elgar Petersen Arena in support of breast cancer. Pink t-shirts were made available for purchase with all proceeds of merchandise and raffle sales going to the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation in support of the Irene and Leslie Dube center for Care, The Brest Health Center.

The Governor General of Canada was also in attendance, July Payette was on the ice for a ceremonial puck drop. She was making her first trip to Saskatchewan since becoming the Governor General of Canada and made the trip to Humboldt to pay her respect to the city and the team following the bus crash of April 6th.

The first period had a pace of play that resembled a sand surface rather than ice. Littered with whistles of offsides and icings, the teams would head to the dressing room tied at nil.

A completely different outcome in the second and quite possibly the most complete period of the entire season for the Broncos. Michael Clarke was slotted alongside Daunte Fortner and Bryson Cecconi, the first time together for that trio, who were all over the offensive side of the puck. Cecconi would open up the scoring assisted by Clarke and Fortner. 2 minutes later Luke Spadafora lit the lamp for the second straight game. Clarke then showed why he is one of the more skilled players in the league. He forced a turnover in the offensive zone, turned Melville defenseman Sam Mudd inside out with a toe drag, before shoveling the puck backhand past Colby Entz to make it 3-0, all before the 11-minute mark in the middle frame.

The Millionaires would find the score sheet to cut the lead to two. However, it would be short lived as 65 seconds later Zach McIntyre would find the back of the net for the third straight game, giving the Broncos a 4-1 lead after two periods.

In the third period, Clarke picked up his second goal and fourth point in the game. The trio of him, Cecconi and Fortner in on the goal once again. Owen Guenter would add the 6th and final tally for the Broncos and they would defeat the Melville Millionaires 6-3

This is the 3rd time on the year the Broncos have scored 6 goals in a game and with the victory, the Humboldt Broncos now sit in a tie with division rival Kindersley for first place in the SJHL.

They will have to wait 6 days until their back on the ice. It will be a two horse race when the Broncos head to Melfort to face the Mustangs.
