The Humboldt Broncos sent the Icewolves howling home to La Ronge following a 5-2 victory in front of the Elgar Petersen Arena faithful.

The shots steadily favoured the Broncos for the duration of the game. However, La Ronge goaltender Jordan Frey came to play and kept the Ice Wolves within striking distance of their 11th win through the opening 40 minutes.

The scoring was opened by the Broncos in the first period courtesy of Josh Partician and his 6th of the year assisted by Michael Clarke. Former Humboldt Bronco Antonio Di Paolo, who suited up for 41 games wearing green and yellow over a three-year span, tied the game at one apiece in the second frame. After two periods of play, shots were slanted the Broncos way favouring the home team 34-20.

In the third, the Broncos weren't flustered by Frey and continued to put shots towards the Ice Wolves' goaltender looking for a lead. Que the Broncos leading goal scorer, with a career milestone goal.

Michael Clarke, who incredibly, was playing in his 265th career junior hockey game, received a pass from Owen Gunter at the side of the net, nearly had it bobble over him, but settled the puck down and flipped it past Frey for the 2-1 go-ahead goal. This was Clarke's 100th goal of his junior hockey career. So first off, congratulations Michael, and secondly, the Broncos had their lead restored. Drew Warkentine picked up the second assist on the goal. He had the Cy Young stat line of the year going prior with 16 goals and zero assists.

Following the Michael Clake goal, the floodgates were open. The Ice Wolves struck first to tie the game at two. Reid Arnold answered back for the Broncos with his third of the year, assisted by Mark Edmands and Derek Patter. The Broncos were determined to find an insurance marker and not let La Ronge claw their way back for the third time in the game. They succeeded when Edmands placed a perfect slap-pass intentionally wide of the net, which was beautifully re-directed by Logan Foster. The second assist was credited to Brayden Camrud while Foster scooped his 10th point in the last seven games with a two-point effort on the night. With just over two minutes remaining on in the game, Broncos agitator and grinder Cole Kirkup got on the scoresheet assisted by Foster to spur the Broncos to a 5-2 home ice victory.

Rayce Ramsay faced 30 shots in the victory, many of them high-grade scoring chances, but was solid throughout and secured his second victory in a row and 10th on the year.

Next up for the Broncos is a home and home set against the Norte Dame Hounds starting in Wilcox, SK on Friday, January 24th.
