The Broncos certainly gave their fans a wonderful send off Friday night as the green and gold doubled the Melville Millionaires 4-2 in their last game at home for the 2015-16 season.

The Broncos will not go to the post-season for the first time since 1979-80, a remarkable run of 35 seasons. However the over 900 fans that took in the game, they got a nice glimpse of the future.

Now knowing the outcome all is fine however the fans at the Elgar Petersen Arena thought they may see the green and gold whimper into the Summer falling down 2-0 after one period.

That would not be the case, Daniel McKitrick sprung free down the middle and 16 year-old call-up Landon Markovitch hit the 18 year-old sniper in stride before McKitrick slid it through Brandon Wells making it 2-1 on his team leading 22nd.

The Broncos would tie it just 37 seconds later, Trevor Posch would slap a Logan Schatz pass past Wells making it 2-2. Chris Van Os-Shaw would pick up the second assist on Posch's 14th goal of the year.

It would remain tied heading to the third but Van Os-Shaw would give the Broncos the lead at the four minute mark. The 18 year-old's 15th turned out to be the game winner from Posch and Mathew Parsons.

Posch would add his second of the night on a slick snap shot off the post and in on Wells making it 4-2. Van Os-Shaw and Schatz were in on that goal as well.

Overall Posch said it was a positive way to go out.

"Yeah obviously it was a good game by the boys. We had a slow start but we came back in the second and third pretty good. We got to give our fans one last show here at the EPA so that was good."

"We're going to still try and finish off as hard as we can here in those last three games, we're due for one on the road here," Posch continued.

The line of Posch, Van Os-Shaw and Schatz has been extremely effective since the acquisition of the former Weyburn Red Wing. On this night they combined for eight points.

"It's awesome playing with these two, all my success has been with them so I give it to those two guys for being good linemates."

Carter Seminuk was strong in net kicking aside 28/30, Wells was 28/32.

Humboldt had just one power-play chance, they didn't score, Melville also didn't have a power-play goal in four opportunities.

The Broncos will now finish with three road games beginning Tuesday in the Battlefords. Wednesday they travel to Kindersley and then they finish the year in Yorkton.

"Everyone just has to make sure we finish off these last games hard and even for the start of next year. Some things have to change obviously we've got to bring it right from the start and hopefully we're a better team next year."

All three games will be on your radio with KMK Sales Broncos' hockey starting at 7:15.
