Maybe it was the 10 o'clock start for the Humboldt Broncos but before they knew it they were down 3-0 to the Kindersley Klippers Tuesday morning at the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Showcase in Warman.

Despite the pedestrian start the Broncos found their legs and they managed to get the game to overtime before Lane Scheidl shoveled a loose puck under Brett Clark just 15 seconds into period four to give the Klippers a 5-4 win and an early lead in their season series.

Boedy Donald, Cody Young and Sam Binfet all scored in the opening 15 minutes sending Humboldt reeling but their hometown leader settled them down late in the first period. Jarrett Fontaine notched his second of the season on the power-play with just seven seconds left on the clock to cut the lead to a manageable 3-1. Fontaine's linemates Logan Scatz and Daniel Mckitrick were credited with the helpers.

That trio was far from done.

Fontaine scored again with the man advantage, just under four minutes into the second period from Schatz and Anthony Kapelke closing the gap to a goal.

The Broncos would get back to even keel before the middle frame would expire, Schatz fired his first of the season past Nathan Hargrave tying the game at 3-3 with 6:23 to go in the second. Kapelke and Mckitrick each added another assist.

The teams headed to the break all square and then a former Bronco bit his ex-teammates back. Gage Joel snuck off the blueline depositing a backdoor pass while up a man giving the Klippers a 4-3 lead early in the third but the Broncos wouldn't quit.

This time Mckitrick would get them back to even at 4-4 with his fourth of the year 4:23 in. Fontaine was credited with the lone helper to cap his three point day. Both Mckitrick and Schatz had a trio of points as well.

"We got put together in Notre Dame earlier this year and I got hurt in that game but we started to click a little bit there," Fontaine said after the game. "When I came back I got put with them and it's been growing ever since, I really like where our line is headed and we're just trying to contribute to the team. We contributed a little bit today."

Fontaine was also proud of his teammates for not letting the early deficit get to them.

"Obviously you want the win, I think it just shows our team is capable of coming back, down 3-0 in the first and we really took the momentum in the game. That point is huge, any point is really."

Clark suffered his first loss of the season kicking aside 36/41 shots, Nathan Hargrave stopped 40/44 for the win.

The Broncos were excellent on the power-play finishing 3/4, the Klippers were 2/6.
