The Broncos are starting to get some players back after they unloaded their 20 year-olds a season ago.

Thursday it was announced that they acquired 19 year-old Matthieu Gomercic from the Steinbach Pistons for former captain Anthony Kapelke.

The Winnipeg product says he is looking forward to a fresh start in Humboldt.

"Yeah, Steinbach was a great organization but at the same time I am excited to be with the Broncos. I talked to Kapelke a little and he was really high on the organization, he had a bunch of great things to say about it so I am excited to come over and see what the league is all about."

The 1997 born left winger has played 83 games in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, he has compiled 15 goals and 15 assists.

Head Coach and General Manager Darcy Haugan is excited to have Gomercic in the fold, in fact he has had his eyes on him for some time.

"We looked at the possible suitors for Anthony and Steinbach was the front runners mostly to get Matthieu here, we are very pleased."

Haugan already has Gomercic penciled in as a second line left winger behind Chris Van Os-Shaw, another strong, talented power forward.

"We like Matthieu, we think he is going to fit in real nice," Haugan added. "He has great touch around the net, he's a big body as well, the feeling is pretty high with him."

Despite the Broncos 11th overall finish last season, that's not derailing Gomercic's exuberance.

"It's a pretty young roster but there is a lot of skill, I've heard a lot about it. It's going to be an exciting group, obviously not too sure what it's going to look like but I am excited to come to camp and see what it's all about."

The Broncos are still awaiting the confirmation with the return for Greg Moro from the RBC Cup hosting Lloydminster Bobcats.
