The Humboldt Broncos got Friday's two points back on their side, skating to a 4-2 win over the Notre Dame Hounds on Saturday night.

Playing the back end of a home and home with the Hounds, the Broncos got on the board quickly when Jaxon Joseph made it 1-0 just over five minutes into the game.

Notre Dame would reply on the power play 61 seconds later to even the game before Brayden Camrud put the home side back up with eight minutes left in the opening period.

The second period saw a similar situation, with the Broncos outscoring Notre Dame 2-1.

It would be the Hound scoring first this time, as Connor Mylymok buried a loose puck off a bad bounce to tie the game midway through the second period.

The Broncos pushed back in a big way late in the period, scoring a pair of goals in the final five minutes off the sticks of Logan Hunter and Xavier Labelle.

Assistant Coach Mark Cross says that they got back to basics, leading to both tallies.

"What I found was we simplified our game halfway through the second and we really started pressing their defence and both those goals were off turnovers or good dumped pucks."

Being able to get the two points back in their favour from the previous night was important, says Cross.

"These games are four-point games, and we see them a few more times before the season ends, so it's huge."

Parker Tobin had another strong night in net, making 21 saves to earn his fourth win as a Bronco.

"He's been stellar for us," Cross said. "It's been nice for Wassermann to have that opportunity to get some time in the WHL, but it's great to have that good one-two combo in net."

Wassermann served as the backup goalie on Saturday night as the Regina Pats defeated Calgary 8-2. The Humboldt product is up with the Pats while Max Paddock sits out with a concussion.

The SJHL will take a six day break, with 60 players heading to Regina to take part in the SJHL/MJHL showcase beginning Monday in Regina.

The Broncos next game will be Saturday in Melfort. Humboldt will host Notre Dame on Sunday, January 21 for their next game at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

Being the last night of games prior to the showcase, all 12 teams were in action on a busy slate of games.
