A comeback effort came up short for the Broncos Sunday afternoon, as they dropped their second straight game, falling 5-2 to Nipawin.

The game was played at Saskatoon's Hamm Latrace Arena as part of the SJHL Showcase.

Nipawin got on the board early, when Jordan Simoneau scored his first of two goals on the afternoon. Five minutes later, Michael Grant made it 2-0 for the Hawks.

The lead was stretched to 3-0 at the 12:02 mark of the second period when Logan Casavant scored his third goal of the season.

Just under three minutes later, the Broncos found the scoreboard for the first time in the game, when Logan Hunter scored on a rebound goal infront of the Hawks net, after a wraparound attempt from Logan Schatz.

The Broncos were able to cut the lead to 3-2 early in the third period, when Logan Boulet beat Nipawin goalie Jake Anthony on a wrist shot.

After the Broncos were unable to tie the game on the powerplay, Simoneau scored his second goal of the game after throwing the puck on goal from the boards, beating Sam-Jaxon Visscher to make it 4-2.

An empty net goal was added in the game's final minute for the Hawks.

Humboldt's second game of the SJHL Showcase will take place on Tuesday at 3:00pm when they meet the Yorkton Terriers.
