The Broncos lost their third straight on Wednesday night in Notre Dame despite putting together a stable effort on the road on back to back nights.

For the second consecutive game against the Hounds they were outscored 5-1. The loss drops the Broncos' record to 7-15-2-1.

"We played a pretty solid game, probably a better effort for 60 minutes than we've seen lately for sure" Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko said on the post-game show of KMK Sales Broncos' hockey. "It was good to see obviously but at the end of the day you still don't win and that's the problem."

The Broncos didn't really show any ill effects from their tough 8-6 loss in Estevan Tuesday, they jumped out to an early 5-0 and 9-2 lead on the shot clock in the first but when the opening period ended Notre Dame had goals from Jack Flaman and Conor MacLean and a 2-0 lead.

The second period was much of the same as MacLean and Gage Ramsay doubled the lead going into the third period.

The Broncos would get on the board at the 7:12 mark, Jarrett Fontaine beat Riley Welyk making it 4-1. Corey Dambrauskas and Michael Korol earned the assists on Fontaine's sixth goal.

Unlike the night prior, the Broncos comeback would stop there, Ben Duppereault would score into an empty net to cap the scoring at 5-1.

Even though it was a four goal loss, there was a feeling a comeback wasn't that far fetched after Fontaine's goal.

"We weren't turning over the puck, the neutral zone was a lot better, the defensive zone was better, a lot of things were better and when you see all that then you think there is a potential chance of winning. You know in particular where even it was a 4-1 game you knew we had no chance, well not tonight, there was some chances there and we did a lot of things right."

Klimosko concluded that they needed to capitalize on their early opportunities.

"There's teams that do it to you when you come out a little sluggish and then they bury a few by you and then all of a sudden you are reeling the whole rest of the game. We had those chances early, we didn't score on them and then they score two and the wind normally does get out of our sales. It wasn't tonight which was nice to see of course, we will focus on a little bit of the positives there."

Until this game the Broncos have been producing offensively, now the largest issue is keeping the puck out of their net, they have allowed an alarming 31 goals against in six games.

The penalty killing has been a factor in their losses as well, Notre Dame went 2/3 on the power play, Humboldt was 0/3 but two of those were with a second to go on a double minor for spearing against the Hounds.

Brett Friesen took the loss in goal making 19 saves on 23 shots, Welyk kicked aside 30/31 Humboldt chances.

Following the game the Broncos announced they have traded 20 year-old goaltender Brett Clark to the Calgary Mustangs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In return they get 18 year-old Brayden Uhrich. The Rosetown product has six points, including four goals in nine games.
