The Broncos had six days off between games heading into Friday's home match-up against the highly regarded Estevan Bruins.

Humboldt looked fresh and ready for the first meeting of the year with the Western Canada Cup hosts, they scored twice in the first, again in the second before putting the game away with another deuce in the final on their way to an impressive 5-1 romp.

The game was a stark contrast to their last contest, a 6-2 defeat on the road in LaRonge last Saturday.

There was one similarity between the two games however, the Broncos had plenty of early chances, this time they made a couple count. Trevor Posch slammed home his first goal of the season just past the midway point from Connor Kortko and Mathew Parsons. Korkto then rifled his third past Tyler Gutenberg three minutes later. Posch and Connor Swystun picked up the assists.

Humboldt took a 2-0 lead into the intermission with a 10-8 shot advantage.

The second period's only goal came off the stick of Daniel Mckitrick, the 18 year-old Coal Harbour, Nunavut product beat Tyler Fuhr on a beautiful breakaway popping the water bottle off the net for his third of the season. Logan Schatz was credited with the lone assist.

The 3-0 lead would stand after 40 minutes, the shots still in Humboldt's favour 24-18.

Estevan would have their second 5-on-3 power-play in the opening minute of the third, they didn't score during the first penalty, their was a goal during the second minor, but it was the Broncos.

Rookie winger Josh Roberts sped down the left boards tying up the feet of the Bruins defenseman before beating Fuhr for his first Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League goal. The 4-0 tally came just 1:12 into period three.

Corey Dambrauskas would add one more just past the 10 minute mark on the power-play, the Calgary born defenseman's first of the year came from Schatz and Jarrett Fontaine making it 5-0.

The only question left to be answered would be the shut-out which was broken by Owen LeClare while the Broncos were shorthanded but in the end it was far too little as the Broncos improved their record to 3-2-1.

Clark finished with 31/32 saves for his 3rd win of the season.

"The boys played well tonight, we had a couple tough penalty kills there, we puled it together, blocked shots and got the win."

Humboldt was 7/8 killing penalties, a huge step forward from a dismal 5/9 killing performance last weekend in two games.

"It was nice to get a game at home and get a win for sure," Clark continued. "I just can't say enough about our defense tonight."

Humboldt was 1/6 with the man advantage.

Gutenberg made 8/10 saves before leaving late in the first period due to injury, Fuhr kicked aside 21/24 in relief.
