Jason Neville is excited about the new players the Humboldt Broncos added through an SJHL draft.

“We have a group of veterans that we can add to the players we pulled out of our free agent camp back in May,” said Neville, the team’s assistant general manager.

“We still have some work to do over the summer to add to that but it gives us a place to start.”

Each team provided a list of players available for the Broncos to draft, which would vary in size depending on how many returning players the team had.

Neville, the assistant coach, and head scout spent last week watching hours upon hours of video from last season and submitted their picks on Sunday.

The selections, consisting of nine forwards and one defenceman, include:

Battleford North Stars - Connor Smith

Flin Flon Bombers – Flin Flon received an exemption

Kindersley Klippers - Bryson Cecconi

La Ronge Ice Wolves - Shane Hounsell

Melfort Mustangs - Eric McNeilly and Ayden Third

Melville Millionaires - Ethan Kopyczyn

Notre Dame Hounds - Ahmed Ally

Nipawin Hawks - Austin Mikesch

Weyburn Red Wings - Jessie Young

Yorkton Terriers - Kyle Sargent

Estevan Bruins - arrangement for player selection to be made in the future

Over the summer the Broncos will keep in touch with other teams and see who might have some extra defencemen they’d want to move, or if any other players of interest come across the trade wire, Neville said.

“We just have to keep our eyes open and try and add that way going forward.”
