The LeRoy Braves completed a two game sweep of the Wynyard Monarchs on Friday to take their Long Lake Hockey League opening round playoff series.

LeRoy, who finished five points behind Wynyard in the regular season standings, earned a 5-2 win in Game 1 on January 31.

They then held down home ice for a 6-3 win to advance to round two.

Rylan Korte led the way in scoring over the two games, contributing four goals and five points overall. Austin Dyok chipped in with four points, while Neil Landry had three points.

The Braves await the conclusion of the Davidson-Lanigan series to find out who they will meet in round two.

If Davidson wins, LeRoy will take on the top-seeded Drake Canucks. A Lanigan win sends LeRoy to Watrous.

Davidson took Game 1 in the series 7-4. The Pirates host Game 2 on Tuesday night.

Provincials Starting Up

Provincial playoffs are rolling out across the Sask. Hockey world as well.

Lanigan fell 6-2 to Kerrobert in their opener and will wrap up the series on February 17.

It was a strong 5-1 win over Drake over Delisle in the opening game of their two-game set. The Canucks host the Bruins on Friday.

The Braves take on Hague in Game 1 Friday in LeRoy, with the series concluding on February 16.

In 'A' provincials, Wynyard meets Wakaw for Game 1 of a best-of-three series beginning on Friday, while Watrous hosts Waldheim on Saturday in Game 1.

All 'A' brackets are a best-of-three format, while B through D are two game total goal formats for the first rounds, while the provincial finals are all three game sets.
