The Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League will decide its inaugural season on Saturday in Wadena.

Despite a looming, dooming forecast, baseball will be the most popular sport in the Humboldt area Friday through Sunday, with tournaments and championships to be determined.

In the North Central Softball League, Peewee wraps up as Humboldt 1 meets Humboldt 2 in the 'A' final. The tournament began on Sunday, but was partially postponed due to inclement conditions on that day.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm at Diamond 6.

Also in Humboldt will be the Midget AA Dodgers, as they host four games.

On Saturday, the Macklin Lakers come to town for a pair of games at 1:00 and 3:00pm. The White Butte Broncos are the next opponents on Sunday.


The Muenster Red Sox Bantam, Peewee and Mosquito programs are welcoming teams for the weekend.

Games in Mosquito begin Friday afternoon at the host Red Sox take on Dinsmore at 4:00. The Humboldt Dodgers will battle the Saskatoon Braves at 6:30pm.

The remainder of games will be played out Saturday and Sunday, and are to be determined based on first game results.

Bantam and Peewee tournaments begin Saturday.

Muenster takes on Dinsmore at 8:30 in Bantam. They will then wait until 6:30 to get back on the diamond when they meet the Regina White Sox.

The Humboldt Dodgers will take on Unity at 11:00 before a meeting with the Moose Jaw Mallards at 4:00.

In Peewee, the Red Sox play Unity at 8:30 and then meet the Lloydminster Twins at 6:30.

Finals for both tournaments are at 11:30, 2:00 and 4:00 on Sunday.

Sandwiching the tournaments in Muenster will be the Midget AAA Red Sox, who host the Parkland Expos at 6:00pm Friday, as well as on Sunday, they welcome the Saskatoon Giants at 4:00pm.


Concluding its debut season, Wadena hosts six teams for a double knockout playoff tournament in the Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League.

The top two seeds from Wynyard and Foam Lake have a bye in the first set of games.

At 9:00am, the Fishing Lake Cubs meet the Fishing Lake Mariners. As well, the Rosebud Royals take on the Wadena Wildcats.

The winner of the Fishing Lake game will take on Foam Lake in the semi-final, while the winner between Rosebud and Wadena will battle Wynyard.

The final is set for 4:30 and, if necessary, 6:30.
