It was a highlight night for Humboldt's Logan Barlage in the Western Hockey League on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old scored his first career WHL goal as the Swift Current Broncos beat the Kelowna Rockets 5-1.

"It was an unbelievable feeling. I've been looking forward to it for a long time now and it feels good to get the monkey off the back," he said.

Barlage's goal came midway through the second period, giving the Broncos a 4-0 lead at that point. He also had an assist on an earlier goal in the game.

The Broncos have given Barlage more time on a line with Captain Glenn Gawdin, which he says has been a big help.

"We've been playing really good for the last little bit. It's a privilege to play with him and he's been helping me out. I've been getting better and now that the floodgates have opened, hopefully, it keeps going."

Barlage's two point night earned him the game's third star as the Broncos won their fourth straight game.

Swift Current is 24-7-2 on the season and sits four points behind Moose Jaw for first in the WHL.
