Saturday's Broncos' game in LaRonge didn't have the spectacle of a Hall of Fame legend dropping the puck, a raucous atmosphere or the accelerated pace of Friday's tilt in Flin Flon but the end results are identical, two points.

Humboldt scored early in the first and late in the third to secure a 2-1 shading of the Ice Wolves capping a perfect road trip up north meanwhile strengthening their fifth place standing.

"It wasn't pretty by no means," Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko chuckled on the post game show. "But hey, we will take the two points, it's a big weekend for us winning both games the way we did."

Dawson Atamanchuk beat Luke Lush on a semi-botched one-timer from the high slot at 3:57 giving the Broncos a 1-0 lead. Brayden Camrud set Atamanchuk up with the help from Parker Wakaruk.

The Wolves, looking to break a 25 game winless streak would tie it in the first, Kent Hanson beat Garrett Mason sending the teams to the room tied 1-1.

The same score continued until to hold until 11:22 of the final frame, Brett Horn beat Lush on a similar play albeit tighter to the LaRonge net. It was created by some solid work behind the net, Cole Young and Tristan Elder set the 20 year-old American up for his first game winner as a Bronco and his 13th of the season.

Mason was great for the second night in a row, he stopped 34/35 for his 24th win, in less than 48 hours and 120 minutes the 20 year-old Okotoks product steered aside 93/96 shots. Lush was also fantastic, the 18 year-old LaRonge rookie stopped 35/38 in the loss.

Special teams were bland, Humboldt was 0/4, the Wolves finished 0/3. The officiating crew should be commended, the referee took a high stick in the second period and left bloodied, the two linesmen finished the period and another official suited up and worked the third with the senior official dawning the stripes. Brayden Dunn was accurately awarded a third period penalty shot but was also stopped by Mason.

Klimosko added that they can breath a little easier heading into a home and home series with Notre Dame next weekend.

"You feel a lot better about yourself winning these two games, we're getting ourselves set up for a good situation for next weekend. It's nice to see, you see us getting close, even that game against Flin Flon we're getting close to turning the corner to where we want to be. Hopefully it's just in time for playoffs."

The Broncos still have three regular season games left, Friday they will be in Wilcox, Saturday the Hounds return to the Elgar Petersen Arena. Both games are 7:30 puck drops.

Elsewhere across the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, the Melfort Mustangs fell 4-2 in Flin Flon, the Battlefords North Stars defeated Notre Dame by that same 4-2 count, Nipawin used the same score for two points versus Estevan and the Melville Millionaires edged Weyburn 4-3.

The Broncos now sit four points up on both the Hounds and Wings for fifth.
