The Broncos did something over the weekend they have failed to do so this season, they have won back to back hockey games.

After a spirited 4-3 victory Friday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena, they used their momentum from snapping an eight game slide to rout the Weyburn Red Wings 5-1 Sunday night at the EPA.

Weyburn was completing a three game in three night road trip and it showed for the Sher-Wood division leaders. Give the Broncos credit, they jumped out to a lead in the first period and never laid off.

"It's a good atmosphere, it feels good to have two wins under our belts, especially in a row," Laramie Kostelansky said after his one goal and one assist contest. "It's what we've been working hard for the past couple days and it's really paying off."

Humboldt opened a 1-0 lead through the first period, Connor Swystun would score his second goal of the weekend and fifth of the season from Daniel Mckitrick and Michael Korol at the 13:24 point, while on the power play.

Korol would add his fourth of the season in the second giving the Broncos a 2-0 advantage they would take to the last break, Mckitrick and Jarrett Fontaine were given the assists on the eventual game winner..

In the third period the Broncos depth up front seemed to outlast the road weary Wings.

Andrew Thompson would get his fourth from Kostelansky, then Kostelansky would make it 4-0 from Thompson and Matthew Parsons.

"It feels good knowing that were helping contribute to wins and getting the boys going," Kostelansky added on behalf of his linemates which includes Rock Ruschkowsky. "It feels good to be on the score sheet with them."

The Wings would beat Ryan LaRochelle with just over five minutes to go but Fontaine would stymie any thought of a come back forcing a Wing defender off the puck then dumping it into an open cage with Jack Burgart on the bench for an extra attacker. The 20 year-old hometown product has 10 goals this season.

LaRochelle has won two straight since being reacquired by the Broncos, he stopped 31/32 shots, meanwhile Burgart, one of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's top netminders allowed four goals on 25 Bronco chances.

The Broncos were 1/5 with the man advantage, although Korol's goal came just as a power play ended. Weyburn was 1/4.

They will now prepare for the Battlefords Nothstars Friday night, catch the game on your radio starting with the pre-game show at 7:15, play-by-play begins at 7:30.
