It was a tough night for the hosts of the 2018 Allan Cup and the other Saskatchewan team in the quarterfinals Thursday night at the AGT Centre.

The first matchup of the evening featured the Bethune Bulldogs versus the Ontario champions -- the Stoney Creek Generals.

A third period marker from the Bulldogs was not enough to spark a comeback as the Generals won 3-2 to advance to the semifinals.

In the second quarterfinal matchup, it was the Rosetown Redwings looking to get past the Atlantic's Elsipogtog Hawks in order to continue playing on home ice.

Despite a valiant effort from the hosts in the first half of the game, the Hawks managed to stun the home crowd and slot 5 goals past Wings goaltender Tyler Steel. 3 of those Hawks tallies came in the third period which included an empty net goal. The final score was 6-4 Elsipogtog.

With the losses, it means both of Saskatchewan's representatives in the Allan Cup have now been eliminated from the playoff round.

The semifinals kick off Friday evening with a 4:00pm showdown featuring the Stoney Creek Generals against the South East Prairie Thunder, who are the 1st place team from Division 1.

At 8:00pm, Elsipogtog will take on the Lacombe Generals for a chance to meet in the final with the winner of Stoney Creek vs South East.
