Basketball teams from across the province are in Moose Jaw, as HOOPLA 2016 gets underway Thursday.

The majority of teams begin play Friday with semi-final games. Saskatoon and Regina leagues have quarter-final games Thursday night.

St. Brieux enters as the top seed in 2A boys and will meet Regina Harvest City for a 12:45pm tip-off Friday at Peacock High School. Osler VCA battles Ecole Canadienne in the other semi-final.

At 2:30pm, the Wynyard Bears girls team hits the hardwood at Vanier Collegiate when they meet Kinistino in 2A action. The winner of that game will take on Regina Harvest City or Meath Park in the final.

The Middle Lake girls look to secure a fourth straight 1A championship game appearance when they play Asquith at 4:15pm at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Kenaston and Fillmore go head-to-head in the other semi-final. Also at 4:15, at Vanier, the Melfort Comets boys team plays John Paul II from North Battleford. Weyburn meets Bedford Road on the other side.

Taking to the court at 6:00pm will be the Clavet Cougars as they meet Indian Head.

Lastly, the HCI Mohawks girls get play underway at 8:00pm when they meet Lumsden at Riverview Collegiate. The winner meets Clavet or Indian Head in the 3A final.

All championship and bronze medal games take place throughout the day Saturday.
