The AA Midget Humboldt Broncos will continue the defense of their Centre Four Hockey League championship against the Meadow Lake Stampeders.

Game one of their best of three semi-final goes Wednesday at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

The Broncos got here by sweeping the Prince Albert Raiders, the Stampeders upended the top ranked Northeast Wolfpack to get into the final four.

Broncos Head Coach Chris Hamilton explains the main reason Meadow Lake provided the upset.

"That would be the goaltending. When he gets on his game, I think when we went up there we fired 69 shots on him and only scored three goals. That's a bit of a scary thing when you are looking for offense but hopefully we can come out with the home ice and get the victory on Wednesday night."

Hamilton has no qualms about their goalie, Jacob Wassermann and his ability to match his Meadow Lake counterpart.

"I think he can, there's no question. We don't give up too many shots, so we're pretty sound defensively. As long we get down there and create a little bit of raucous in front of him we should have a pretty good shot."

Game 2 is set for Friday in Meadow Lake with the third and deciding game back at Elgar's on Saturday night if it's needed.

Hamilton says the guys would love to have some community support, like they have had over their impressive two season run.

"The same thing, bigger and better. The boys love it, they love all the fans, it doesn't take them long to get into the game. That's what they like, they get into the game pretty quick when they here that coming onto the bench there."

Face-off is set for 7:30.

In the other CFHL Midget semi-final, the Unity Lazers are facing the Saskatoon Sabercats.
