The 2017 edition of Hometown Hoops basketball camp wrapped up Wednesday in Lake Lenore.

Head Coach Jillian Weseen tells us more about what the three days entailed.

"Hometown Hoops is a local basketball camp for kids from age five to 18. So up until they graduate they can come."

The camp had a couple changes for its 20th year, Weseen explains more.

"I relinquished some of my control. I was usually head coach for all the different age groups, bantam, junior and senior. I wanted to be fresh this year for our 20th anniversary, so I gave creative control to Riley Humbert and Joe and Margaret De Ciman."

She goes on to tell us where the idea for the camp first came from.

"We wanted to give back to the community. Our family is a basketball family. I played from the time I was three years old, I was coming to practices with my father. He coached here for the whole 35 years he was teaching in Lake Lenore. Basketball has always been a part of our lives and it was a way to give back to the community and the surrounding area."

It was the first year without Wessen's father, Wade, who passed away last year. The Lake Lenore gym is named in his honour.

This year's camp saw 65 kids participate.
