City of Humboldt Council has released their briefs from the February 23rd meeting.
Mayor Malcolm Eaton congratulated the Humboldt floor hockey team who participated in the 2015 Saskatchewan Special Olympics Provincial Winter Games held in Regina. The team competed well, and brought home the B division gold.
Other items on the agenda included Partners Family Services making their presentation to council on the organization's recent regional events and future focus. Partner's will again be presenting their signature "Community Rising" event to raise awareness and funds on June 10th. The event will feature Amanda Lindhout. Council was asked to consider supporting the event.
There was also a public hearing in regards to two city bylaws. No one was in attendance to speak to either of the bylaws, and there was no communication received regarding them. Bylaw 01/2015 amends the Zoning Bylaw, changing the frontage regulations in Medium Density and Core Mixed Residential District to 7.5 meters from 9 meters. This change allows for the development of two-unit duplex dwellings and townhouses in these districts. Bylaw 02/2015 authorized a special tax for the payment of the City's portion of debt due to the construction of the Humboldt District Health Complex. Both bylaws were passed by council.
Finally, council accepted the 2015 Budget as information and referred the document back to its' Standing Committees for final review and clarification.
