Partners Family Services makes preventative services available to families as well as services available while children are in care of the Ministry of Social Services.
They feel that the past year they are more infused into the community and their services are more recognized, something Executive Director Rachel Trann is happy with.
"2014 has been a year full of so much positive change for the organization. We settled into our new building, we welcomed several new staff and we really received tremendous community support for our awareness and fund raising event with Thereon Fleury."
Fleury, a sexual assault victim and former National Hockey League star spoke to over 1,000 students during an afternoon in June followed by a sold out gala where the Russell, Manitoba product mesmerized the crowd of 300 with his horrific but amazingly inspirational battle back to the top.
The event raised over $20,000 in funds for their organization but more importantly incredible awareness around the topic.
"I think it was just so nice to see the community rally around us and around some of the awareness issues we raised," Trann continued. "We also did our, 'don't be that guy' campaign which we are continuing into the new year."
Some of the services they do provide are parent and tot play groups, violence abuse prevention and support programs, women's wellness series, women's creative social group and also one for men plus they have a number of on-site programs.
Trann says they will hold their annual general meeting in June and their board currently is full but they won't turn down any help or suggestions.
"We're always looking for new members in the upcoming year so if somebody is interested in that please just give our office a call, the number is 682-4135. You can also learn more on their website.
