With the dog days of Summer winding down the new school year is inching ever closer.
Partners Family Services in Humboldt is hoping residents will help kids in need walk into the classroom prepared to tackle their assignments. For the second year they are holding a supply drive.
"We have a truck that was kindly donated to us by South 20 Dodge for the past four weeks," Partners Service Coordinator Dee Drummond-Goldman explains. "We're just really asking people to pop along and make some donations or if they're are shopping in the mall pop in any one of the stores and help us out."
She says they are looking for backpacks, pens, pencil crayons, erasers, folders, binders, paper, calculators and even school snacks.
On Tuesday when speaking with Drummond-Goldman she said Wednesday may be the last day the truck will be at the mall. If you can't get there to make your donation they will also have a vehicle in front of Office Experts on Main Street during this weekend's Streetfest.
She adds it's small prize to pay if everyone helps out in a way they can.
"Every parent knows it's super expensive to get all those to get kids back to school so any help we can get is much appreciated. We know how much the kids love it, it's a surprise for them too because they get to look in the backpack and find out what all of the community has gathered to help them get back to school."
If you want to help out and have any questions call Partners at 682-4135.
