Partner's Family Services will be hosting their 3rd annual Battle of the Bands during the Humboldt Summer Sizzler next Friday.

Tracey Shewciw Program Coordinator for Partners talks about a donation they received Thursday morning.

"We really appreciate their support with this event. They have given us $1,000 to go towards the first prize which is a recording contract with Earthquake Records so we're really appreciative of Bolt FM."

The bands will hit the stage at Jubilee Hall in the Uniplex beginning at 8 o'clock. Shewciw talks about who should sign up.

"It's a youth initiative for Humboldt and area and we're looking for musical individuals and bands who want to just come and have some fun on stage during the Sizzler. It's just a light competition, there's up to three songs that people can play and it's just really a lot of fun more than anything."

The judges will be looking for vocals, music, the songs and the tightness of the bands. Second and third place prizes will be awarded that include shopping sprees at Centre Stage Music.

Bands can get involved by calling Partners at 682.4135.
