Tyler Bieber
February 9, 1989 – April 6, 2018

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Tyler Bieber of Humboldt, SK, announces his passing on Friday, April 6, 2018, as the result of the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus accident.  Tyler Anthony Bieber was born to Marilyn Hay and Terry Bieber at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Humboldt on February 9, 1989. He attended Humboldt Public School, and then graduated from Humboldt Collegiate in 2007.  Tyler started playing football in Grade 9 but found his niche wasn't as a player but in a supporting role as equipment manager.  This led him to taking various volunteer roles, culminating in his role as wide receiver coach for the Humboldt Mohawks High School Football team.  Tyler left Humboldt for Regina  in 2010, but returned in 2014 with a passion to pursue broadcasting.  He started part-time with Bolt FM, which quickly turned into a full time position.  Tyler returned to the Mohawks and continued to expand his volunteer coaching into basketball.  In 2015, Tyler and Sam Schlitz started the Humboldt Flag Football league, and Tyler was the VP of Humboldt Touch Football.  Tyler got into Bronco hockey in the beginning as colour commentary, leading into play-by-play.  The 2017/18 season saw Bolt FM asking Tyler to step into a full- time role of play-by-play commentator; Tyler reluctantly agreed IF they would accommodate his volunteer schedule.  Tyler was expanding his volunteer commitments and had secured a spot coaching with the Northern SK Football Academy in Saskatoon, and was slated to be coaching as receiver/quarterback coach three times a week.  He also had completed his training and requirements to become involved with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Humboldt, not in a traditional mentor role but in a leadership role with the "game on" program which had gone dormant for many years until Tyler stepped up. This program would lead boys in the gym and classroom to learn more about making good choices on the field/court and in their everyday lives.  Tyler's first love was with the CFL and he was the person behind the Twitter account CFL Daily, an aggregator of headlines and insights from across the league.  Tyler had over 10,000 followers at one point before he gave it up in 2017 to fulfill work and coaching responsibilities, which included the yearly stint at Kelly Bates Football Clinic.  Anyone who knew Tyler knew his passion lay with the Detroit Redwings, Boston Celtics, Saskatchewan Roughriders and, above all, the New England Patriots.  His knowledge of all sports went above and beyond the average guy and Ty loved to talk sports with anyone and everyone who was willing to take him on!  He also loved to pull a prank, had a wicked sense of humour, a heart of gold, and left a positive mark on everyone he met. He was a selfless volunteer, a mentor, and an amazing son, brother, and friend.  Tyler will lovingly be remembered by his mother Marilyn Hay of Humboldt; father Terry Bieber of Humboldt; sister Candy Hay of Saskatoon; two brothers:  Brandon Bieber of Cold Lake, AB, and Brett Bieber of Humboldt; special friends, Curtis and Jane Lockinger and daughter Paice of Whitecourt, AB.  He is also survived by his maternal grandma, Jean Cowie (Cliff) of Winnipeg, MB; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Tyler was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Anthony and Jean Bieber; and by his maternal grandfather, Joe Hay.  The Lutheran Funeral Service was held at the Elgar Petersen Arena (Humboldt Uniplex), Humboldt, on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Clint Magnus.  Others taking part were:  Marilyn Bieber, Arlene Townsend, and Lorrie Bunko, scripture readers; Dave Hill, eulogist; and Denise Germain, pianist.  Honor guards were formed by members of the Humboldt Mohawk Football Team, the Humboldt Mohawk Basketball Team, and Bolt FM staff. Pallbearers were Clark Stork, Dan Torwalt, Ryan James, Cory Popoff, Evan Nyhus, and Samuel Schlitz.  Interment followed at the Humboldt Public Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to either the Horizon School Division (Tyler Bieber Memorial Fund), or the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation General Equipment Fund.
