Rodger Stahl
February 24, 1946 – July 23, 2018

Rodger was born on February 24, 1946 in Humboldt to Charles and Rosa (nee Bourauel) Stahl of Bruno, the youngest of their seven children. He began farming very early in life, along side his dad. Rodger met a beautiful young nurse, Judith Kainer and they were married on October 10, 1969. Shortly after they were married, they moved out to the family far where they ran a mixed grain farm. Here they raised many different animals, including many horses. His roots ran deep to the farm, farming and horses were his passion and love. Rodger and Judy were blessed with two sons, Michael and Evan. Both shared the same passion and love for farm life and of course, horses. Rodger enjoyed spending time with his sons, a large part of the time was spent in the barn. Other times were spent training horses, racing horses, going to auction sales, hunting, fixing, working on projects, checking pastures and going for drives. Rodger and Judy began chuckwagon racing in 1972 and soon after he became heavily involved in the Central Saskatchewan Pony Chariot and Chuckwagon Association. He served on the board as Secretary and then as President for many years. They spent over 30 years following the racing circuit, making many friends and memories along the way. Rodger also worked off the farm, he sold hail insurance, agricultural equipment, marketed cattle and adjusted hail. He also became a certified auctioneer and auctioned in several sales rings. Rodger was devoted to helping his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Bruno Lions Club for many years and also served as an RM Councillor. He was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was to a friend, neighbour or stranger. As their family grew, he happily welcomed his two daughters-in-law in to their lives and he had a special relationship with both Robin and Sadie. Over the last seven years, they welcomed five grandchildren into their family and each addition was very special. He loved spending time with them, teasing them, watching them perform, and answering their many questions. Rodger knew many people far and wide, he touched many lives and will be missed by many. Rodger will be forever missed and remembered by his wife of 48 years, Judy; son Michael and daughter-in-law Robin and his precious grandchildren Jorja (7), Cash (5) and Quade (3), all of Humboldt; and son Evan and daughter-in-law Sadie and his precious step-granddaughter Georgia (6) and precious granddaughter Alabama (3), all of Drayton Valley, AB; sister Louise Tetzlaff of Prince Albert; brothers-in-law Don Paydli (special friend, Louise) and Reynald Niebrugge; sister-in-law Rosalie Brandl (Roger) and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
