Eric Kohle
August 17, 1921 – September 19, 2017

The death of Mr. Eric Kohle, 96 years, of Saskatoon and formerly of Humboldt and Cudworth, occurred on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon.  Eric was born on August 17, 1921 at Humboldt to Frank and Elizabeth (nee Noll) Kohle.  He grew up near Cudworth, in the Leofeld district and attended Leofeld School.  Following his school years, he worked at home on the farm as well as for neighboring farmers.  On September 29, 1941, Eric married Hilda Rosentreter.  They ventured east to Sudbury for a number of years to work in the Nickel mines.  After the war, they moved back to the Cudworth area to begin a life of farming.  Eric also started a transport trucking business, hauling freight to Saskatoon and within the area.  Eric and Hilda were blessed with a family of six, three sons and three daughters.  He loved the land and the outdoors, enjoying camping and fishing with family and hunting with his brothers and neighbour.  Eric was an councilor for the RM of Hoodoo for 24 years and a long time member of the Knights of Columbus.  In 1969, he unfortunately lost his hand in a farm accident.  He never let that slow him down, continuing to farm well into his 80’s with the help of his son Doug.  In 1992, they moved to Humboldt where they lived until shortly after Hilda’s passing in 2011.  He then moved to assisted living at Columbian Manor in Saskatoon and then in 2016 moved into Trinity Manor.  Eric will be lovingly remembered by four children, 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren:  Doug’s family, Carol Kohle of Cudworth and family Dwight (Tanya) of Humboldt and children Kody and Luke, Kevin of Cudworth, and Leslie (Brenda) of Red Deer, AB and children Mathew, Elly and Casey; Linda (Dennis) Bender of Bruno and family,  Debbie (Brian) Hering of Bruno and children Tyrell, Tristan and Dawson, and Darryl (Lorelei) of Saskatoon and children Kylie and Keenan; Ron’s family, Liz Kohle of Bon Accord, AB and family Michael (Katie) of Yellowknife, NWT and children Greta and Lauchlan and Stephen (Jen) of Edmonton, AB and children John and Arthur;  Judy (Dave) Monz of Humboldt and family Trent of Saskatoon and Troy (Krista) of Saskatoon and children Marin and Mason; Norm (Teresa Binetruy) Kohle of Grandora and his sons Levi of Saskatoon, and Tyrell of Saskatoon and his daughter Rosey; and Joyce Kohle (Roger Duret) and her children Mark Jordan and Rebecca Jordan and her son Cullan, all of Saskatoon; two sisters Alvina Weiman of Cudworth Nursing Home and Ella Lingel of Saskatoon, one brother Henry (Celine) Kohle of Cudworth; sisters-and-brothers-in-law: Sally Kohle of Cudworth, Rosemary Kohle of Cudworth, Marilyn Kohle of Saskatoon, Olga Burg of St. Brieux and Leonard (Violet) Rosentreter of Vernon, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife Hilda Kohle; two sons, Douglas Kohle and Ronald Kohle; granddaughter Wendy Bender; son in law Robert Grohs; parents Frank and Elizabeth Kohle; brothers: Edward, Wilfred, Leo, and Francis; sister Louise; sisters-and-brothers-in-law:  Agnes Kohle, Tony Burg, Joe Lingel, Peter Lingel, John Weiman and Rudolph and Lydia Schwartz; and parents-in-law Ed and Hilda Rosentreter.  The Funeral Mass for Eric was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt. Interment followed in St. Augustine Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations in Eric’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or The Arthritis Society.
