Mrs. Louise Mueller
JUNE 30, 1931 - JUNE 13, 2017

Louise was born in the Spalding District on June 30, 1931 to Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Vettrel) Burns. She received her education at the Champlain school near Spalding.  At the age of 17, she attended Normal School in Saskatoon, qualified as a teacher and assumed her first teaching position in Watson. After a year, she accepted a counter sales position at Pete’s Electric in Humboldt. It was during this summer that she met her future husband, Ralph Mueller, at a  family wedding. They were both part of the wedding party, Louise a bridesmaid, and Ralph a groomsman. Louise then continued her teaching career at Stuckel school near Lake Lenore and later, marysburg School. Louise and Ralph were married on July 21, 1953 in Marysburg and moved to Humboldt to start their new life together.  Louise would live at the same location for the next 64 years. After the birth of their first child, she continued teaching but only part time.      As the family grew to a total 9 children her focus turned to her home life and maintenance of a busy household schedule. Louise always had a large garden and adorned her home every summer with   planters full of flowers. She was actively involved with her children’s activities such as cub scouts and 4-H, and she was inducted into the  Saskatchewan Hall of Fame in 1993. Louise and Ralph still found  time to enjoy square dancing, RV trips to Arizona, hunting and    competitive trap shooting where she won many awards. After the passing of her husband Ralph in 1993, Louise continued with her passion for travel, taking numerous cruises and bus tours around North America and Australia. She also traveled to England, Spain and Alaska. Louise was a humble lady with a big heart and a proud resident of Humboldt. She was always ready and willing to help and was recognised for her dedication by being honoured as Humboldt Citizen of the Year in 1987. Her other accomplishments include: one of the founding members   of the Friends of the Museum in 1997 (an organisation she continued with until 2015), co-founder of the Minus One Club and was active in the start up of the Festival of Wreaths fund raising event.  Her faith was always an important part of her life, and she was active in the CWL. Hunting was a large part of the Mueller family, they loved the outdoors and hunted all big game. Louise continued to live independently until she was admitted into the hospital in February, 2017. She lived a very full and exciting life.  Louise will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her nine children: Brenda (Doug) Ewing, Kevin (Irene) Mueller, Deborah (Lowell Ostlund) Mueller, Keith (Doris) Mueller, David (Angella Classen) Mueller, Allan (Wendy) Mueller, Robert (Connie) Mueller, Terrence (Deborah Sexton) Mueller and Tamara (Garry) Kimmen; 18 grandchildren six great grandchildren; brother Lorne (Marie) Burns; sister-in-law Clare Burns; members of the Mueller family:  Arnold (Dolores) Mueller, Daniel (Elaine) Mueller, Harold (Anne) Mueller, Len (Geraldine) Mueller, Jane (Murray) Schafer and Mickey (Kathy) Mueller; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Louise was predeceased by husband Ralph; her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Burns; brother Donald Burns sisters and brothers-in-laws: Margaret (Louie) Jaeb, Eileen (Tony) Berscheid and Doreen (Ron) Wadlow.  A Public Visitation was held on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home.
