Louise Klassen
January 21, 1929 – September 2, 2016

Mrs. Louise Klassen, 87 years, of Grandora, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2016 with her family by her side.  Louise was born on January 21, 1929 at St. Walburg, SK to Adolph and Laura (nee Olivier) Studer.  When Louise was about 6 years old, the family moved to Sulphide Lake, north of LaRonge.  They lived there until she was 16, at which time they moved to Prince Albert.  She worked in the hospital there for a short time before following in the footsteps of her sister, Alma, by taking a hairdressing course.  The two sisters then opened their own hair salon.  On December 31, 1955 Louise married Larry Klassen.  They lived in Saskatoon for a time, then moved to the family farm near Grandora.  Although Louise worked seasonally at a chicken farm, she was mostly kept busy raising their growing family.  Because of her love for children, she extended that love to over 20 foster children through the years. She made a lasting impression on their lives and many of those children kept in contact with her.  She loved to play bingo in earlier years and more recently had enjoyed many casino bus trips.   Louise also loved to travel and took many memorable trips over the years, enjoying holiday destinations such as Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba as well as a Mediterranean cruise.  Above all, Louise’s family was the most important part of her life and she cherished the times she could spend with her children and grandchildren.  She was fortunate to be able to spend her last days surrounded by the love of her family.  Louise’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Jason Hosain for his exceptional and extra special care of Louise over the past number of years.  Louise will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her five children, fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren:  KEITH (Jean) Klassen and family Joshua (Jocelyn) Klassen, Asia Klassen, Kayla Gaudet and children Christian and Sophia, and Amara Klassen; BRENT (Kathy) Klassen and family Adam Klassen, Logan Klassen and Kale Klassen; GLENN (Sheri) Klassen and family Chris (Carla) Klassen, Mike (Chandy) Klassen; and Brittany Klassen (Scott Bell) and daughter Sadie; CHERYLLYNN Klassen and family Blair Klassen and children Monica and Zeth, David Klassen and daughter Xia, and Laura Klassen; and RANDENE (Elliott) Ewanishin and family Cole Ewanishin and Daenen Ewanishin; brother Vernon Studer; brother-in-law Fred Dumas; and very close friend Joan Lewis.  Louise was predeceased by her parents Adolph and Laura Studer; husband Larry Klassen; son Blair Klassen; grandchildren Leisha Klassen and Devin Ewanishin; sisters Alma Dumas and Iona (Percy) Scott and sister-in-law Ida Studer.  The Prayer Service for Louise was held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was offered on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.  Both services were held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon.  Memorial donations in Louise’s memory may be made to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.
