Linda Jean Casper
July 27, 1944 – July 1, 2018

It is with much sadness that the family of Linda Jean (nee Becker) Casper of Lanigan, SK, announces her passing at Central Parkland Lodge, Lanigan, on Sunday, July 1, 2018. She was 73 years of age. Linda was born July 27th, 1944, to August and Grace (nee Hadden) Becker in Swift Current, SK. Linda, along with her four siblings, was raised on the family farm outside Hallonquist, SK. Linda married Andy Casper on August 3rd, 1963, in Swift Current. Linda followed Andy around with his job with the CPR and two years after their marriage, on January 16th, 1965, Linda and Andy welcomed their first child, Terry, into the world. Fast forward another two years and on May 13, 1967, they welcomed their second child, Kim. In 1968, she and Andy moved to Lanigan, SK, and from there laid down their family roots. While Andy began his career as an Electrician, Linda took this time to form lasting and meaningful relationships with friends and those in the Lanigan community. In 1984, she commenced employment with the Central Parkland Lodge and in 1986, received her Special Care Aide Certificate. That was a big year for Linda when she not only entered the workforce full-time, but would be the same year in which she became a grandma to her one and only granddaughter, Damara, who was born on March 20th, 1986. Linda’s dedication and passion for her work was evident each and every day. She was proud of her accomplishments and what she was able to do for herself and her family later in her life. Over the years, Linda and Andy took many of their summers to load up their boat and trailer and travel to a number of Saskatchewan lakes. Innumerable memories with family and friends were made that way. Some of these adventures even took them as far as the Yukon and Alaska. When Linda retired in 2006, the traveling continued and she and Andy made a few trips into Yuma, Arizona. There again the friendships of many were formed. Linda was a compassionate human being and gave back whenever she could. From her crocheting of afghans to baking for those in their times of need, she was always there to listen and lend a hand. Linda had a heart of gold and cared so much about every life she touched. That is what she would want each and every one of us to remember about her. Linda will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Andy Casper; son, Terry (Jodi) Casper; daughter, Kim (Dave) Magnusson; granddaughter, Damara Casper (Steve); sister, Margaret Wall; brother, Ian Becker; sisters-in-law, Connie Becker and Joan Becker; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Linda was predeceased by her parents, August and Grace (nee Hadden) Becker; and by two brothers, Stuart Becker and Ed Becker. The Celebration of Linda’s Life was held at the Lanigan Community Hall, Lanigan, on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Gerry Gross. A tribute was given by Doreen Casper, and the memorial table attendants were Shirley McKee and Florence Waldal. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
