Lawrence Henry Stephan, 93 years, of Lanigan passed away on April 12, 2018.  Lawrence was born on February 12, 1925 at Lanigan to Robert and Bertha (nee Rockel) Stephan.  He grew up on the family farm and attended school at Lanigan.  Lawrence married Doreen Freeman on November 26, 1948. They operated a farm in the Lanigan area and raised a family of four.  Lawrence worked at a hog farm for a couple of years and then spent 20 years as a meat cutter for Drake Meats.  He also spent many years as the caretaker at the Lanigan Arena.  Lawrence was a councilor for the RM of Usborne from 1966 to 1980.  He was also a repairman and secretary for the Rural Telephone Co.  Lawrence was a very good carpenter and general handyman.  He loved making working farm toys for his grandchildren.  As his grandchildren grew, he enjoyed cheering them on in their various sports and activities.  Lawrence and Doreen spent many summers camping and fishing around Saskatchewan.  They enjoyed several bus trips to the United States, including one to Nashville.  They loved playing cards with family and friends and listening to country music. In 1991, Lawrence and Doreen moved off the farm and in to Lanigan and then in 2013 they moved in to the Carlton.   Lawrence, a kind and gentle man of few words, with a dry sense of humor, will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, DOREEN Stephan of Lanigan; their four children, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren:  GARRY (Renee) Stephan of Regina and family LeaAnne (Pierre) and children Toveah and Taiven, and Daniel; CONNIE (Mylles) Wildeman of Esk and family Todd (Kim) and children Jace, Reese and Raea, and Chris (Julie) and children Avery and Kya; BRENDA Brenner of Lanigan and family Mark (Melissa) and children Noah and Sam, and Ryan and daughter Reanne; and PEGGY (Terry) Lynch of Jansen and family Tyler (Amy) and children Hayden and Sophie, Dustin (Brenna) and Blakely and Stephanie (Terran); brother Norman (Bev) Stephan of Lanigan; in-laws Dick (Elroy) Freeman of Regina  and Gen Freeman of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Robert and Bertha Stephan; brothers Paul (in childhood) and Martin; granddaughter Kellie Wildeman; son-in-law Ken Brenner; parents-in-law Howard and Belle Freeman; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Jim Freeman, George Freeman, Don (Jean) Freeman, and Bruce (Fran) Hart.
