Laurine Lummerding
October 24, 1936 – April 13, 2019

Laurine Marion (nee Strome) Lummerding of Humboldt, SK passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Humboldt District Hospital. She was 82 years of age. Laurine was born on October 24, 1936, to Vernon and Florence (nee Detwiller) Strome in Watson, Saskatchewan. She was raised and attended school in Watson. Laurine met the love of her life, Ken Lummerding, on a blind date and on July 27, 1962, they were married. They spent their married years in Humboldt and raised five children: Janice, Kevin, Gail, Donna, and Tammy, which resulted in an additional 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Laurine worked at the Royal Canadian Legion, the Humboldt Curling Club, and the Humboldt Golf Course and also spent many years cleaning the CN Station. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Golf Course and made some special friends that she truly cherished. Laurine was a straight shooter, she always told you the way it was. She was easily excitable, as Ken was well aware of, and so were some of her clients who loved to push her buttons and get the much sought after response. We think she enjoyed it as much as they did! Laurine loved to spend time with family and friends and always hosted big dinners where the food was never-ending. She was a very generous woman with a big heart and always an open door, she was the first one to step up to take care of others. Once her grandchildren were older and involved in sports and dance, she spent many hours watching and cheering them on and was an avid Bronco fan. She enjoyed bingo, gardening, and watching and feeding the birds in her backyard. But her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and friends. Laurine will be lovingly remembered by five children, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren: Janice (Ron) Morrrison of Kelvington, SK, and family Robert and children Kayla Makelki (Mattie) and daughter Rayna, and Dylan Charlton, Renee Morrison and children Stefan Taylor and Alyssa Taylor (Chad) and their children Brooklynn and Boston, Janie Ogg and her daughter Ainsley, Pam (Joseph) Scharl and daughter Jennifer and her daughter Sierrah; Kevin (Chris) Lummerding of Humboldt and family Anna and her children Kira, Arianna and Alyza, and Devon; Gail (George) Ewen of Humboldt and family, Jillian (Keenan) Suer and daughters Avery and Oaklyn, Jenny (Nick) Pratchler and daughter Kenzie, and Josh; Donna Berger of Humboldt; Tammy Lummerding of Humboldt and family, Chad (Hayley) and daughter Stella, Colin and Cassidy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
