Jacob Leicht
February 14, 1999 – April 6, 2018

It is with broken hearts that the family of Jacob Leicht of Humboldt, Saskatchewan announce his passing in a tragic accident on Friday, April 6, 2018. Jacob flew on the ice, now he is flying with the angels. Jacob Paul Benjamin Leicht was born February 14, 1999 to Kurt and Céleste (née Leray) Leicht at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt, Sk.  Our ‘Valentine baby’, our firstborn, truly was and will continue to be a shining light.  From the get-go, Jacob was cheery, active and bright. His earliest and lifelong friendships were established at Lia Suchan’s, his daycare giver.  He attended St. Dominic School (where he was taught by his mom), Humboldt Collegiate Institute, and St. Mary High School in Prince Albert for part of his Grade 12 year. Jacob was filled with talent.  He received the Prince Albert “AAA” Mintos Scholastic Award while playing hockey in Prince Albert last year and graduated as an honor roll student.  After graduation, he was a forward for the Humboldt Broncos Junior ‘A’ team.  He was a great athlete.  On the ice he was known to be small in stature, but mighty at heart.  He was fast as ‘leichtning’, hard-working and dedicated to giving his all at all times.  He was proud to say that his most influential role-model in hockey was his dad, who was his coach for most of his minor hockey years.  Together, they won the Midget AA League Championship (the team’s second time) and Provincial Title in 2016.  Jacob was an outdoorsman - loving to fish, hunt, trap and explore nature.  He learned to play the piano and saxophone. He adored his siblings and was a stellar ‘big brother’. Above all, Jacob had a deep, quiet faith, a faith that will live on through all of us. Jacob will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Kurt and Céleste; brother, Isaac; sisters, Kiana and Karysa; maternal grandparents, Paul and Lilianne (née Bergot) Leray, St. Brieux, Sk.; paternal grandparents, Benhardt and Sonia (née Drobot) Leicht, Humboldt, Sk.; uncles and aunts, Paul-Emile (Yoko) Leray, Tokyo, Japan; David (Hayley) Leray and children, Mackenzy and Maxwell, Great Falls, Mt., U.S.A.; Eric (Betty) Leicht, Spalding, Sk., and children, Meagan, Squamish, B.C., Matthew and Jade Leicht, Spalding, Sk.; friend, Kayleigh Feschuk, Prince Albert, Sk.; and numerous relatives and friends.
