Fred Michael Urick was born on December 12, 1921 to John and Baraska (Paula) (nee Seroka) Urick at home on their farm in the Leofeld District. He was raised there and attended Leofeld School. After leaving school, Fred worked at a lumber camp and then for a farmer in the Rosetown area. After which, Fred came home and met Irene Roettger, (the Love of his Life). It took some time for Fred to finally win Irene over and they got married on July 8, 1947 in Wilmont, SK. In 1978 they moved to Humboldt to make their home, with Fred continuing to drive bus for 1 year. Fred also did carpentry work and painting for Hoffman Lumber. Fred then went on his own to do painting until he was 70 years of age. After that he retired, but still in his spare time would pick up cars and trucks for Colony. Fred was a very hard worker, he loved the outdoors, fishing, going on camping trips with his family, trips to the States, going for coffee at Colony and loved family get-togethers. Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In May of 2016, his daughter Charlene became his caregiver and in April 2018, Fred moved into Porteous Lodge.
