Frances Tarnowski
November 17, 1928 – August 18, 2015

The passing of Mrs. Frances Tarnowski (nee Sielski) of Bruno, SK, occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at the age of 86 years.  Frances was born on the family farm in the Borsczow District near Prud’homme, SK, and attended Lamartine School.  After her schooling, she continued to help on the farm and with her younger siblings.  On October 31, 1953, Frances married Matthew Tarnowski and they resided at Keller School near Fulda where Matt was a teacher and then at Prud’homme for one year until they moved into Bruno where she lived until the present.  Frances spent many happy hours creating everything from nun’s habits to wedding gowns and men’s suits.  Sewing was her passion, along with knitting, crocheting, gardening and playing cards.  She loved to fish and camp and spent many hours visiting with family and friends.  In 1972, Matt bought Bruno Lumber Supply, and in 1985, after Matt’s death, she took over managing the yard right up to the present.  Frances was a loving mother and grandmother and was dedicated and supportive in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She was active with the C.W.L.  Frances is survived by her children, Dianne (Gary) Olchowski; Donna (Dan) Olchowski and their children, Colin (Michelle) and two sons, Drew and Owen, Adam and Ward; siblings, Maurice (Theresa) Sielski, Ray (Pauline) Sielski, Peter (Gail) Sielski, Walter (Irene) Sielski, John (Pat) Sielski, and Mary (Sielski) Bradburn; sister-in-law, Anne Sielski, brother-in-law, Adolph (Mary) Tarnowski and sister-in-law, Phyllis Blocka.  She was predeceased by her husband, Matt Tarnowski (1985); parents, Nick and Petrunella (nee Starosta) Sielski; in-laws, Nick Tarnowski and Anne (nee Chomoway) Tarnowski; step-father, Steve Pokoyoway; brother, Ben; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Blocka and Roy Bradburn.   The Prayer Service for Frances was held at St. Bruno R.C. Church, Bruno, on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., presided by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB.  The scripture reader was Michelle Olchowski, the eulogy was delivered by Dan and Colin Olchowski, and the organist was Annie Moritz.  The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Bruno R.C. Church on Monday, August 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB.  Others taking part were:  Adam Olchowski, crossbearer;  Ben Pulvermacher and David Anderson, altar servers; Michelle Olchowski and Connie Bradburn, scripture readers; Edna Hodgson, intentions; Maurice and Theresa Sielski, giftbearers; Bernard Huber, communion minister; Marge and Alois Helgert, memorial table attendants.  Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Frances’  life”.  Active pallbearers were Alvin Sielski, Korwin Sielski, Rick Sielski, Jerry Sielski, Wes Sielski and Garry Tarnowski.      Interment followed at St. Bruno R.C. Cemetery, Bruno.  Memorial donations may be directed to either the Bruno Church and Cemetery Fund or Bruno Friendship Center.
