Frances Anne Lessmeister
September 8, 1929 – January 15, 2018

Frances (nee Koberinski) Lessmeister of Humboldt, SK, passed away at her residence on Monday, January 15, 2018.  She was 88 years of age.  Fran was born at home in the Sinnett District, SK, the first child of John and Ethel (nee Cox) Koberinski on September 8, 1929.  Twelve brothers and sisters followed. She took her elementary and high school education at Loyola School in Sinnett.  Fran went on to nursing school at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt.  Her first job after school was at the Watson Hospital in 1950.  In September of 1951 she married Albert Lessmeister of Lake Lenore.  They farmed in the Verndale District and raised 9 children there.  After her last child was born in 1965, Fran returned to work as a nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.  The plan was to work long enough to afford to bring electrical power to the farm.  Of course after power was established there was something else needed to purchase, so she worked from 1965 to 1983 until Albert was in failing health.  Fran retired to care for him.  Albert passed away in 1989, after moving from the farm to live in Lake Lenore.  Fran is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her children:  Gerri (Stan) Najborowski of Humboldt, MaryEllen Lessmeister of Humboldt, John (Cindy Dyck) Lessmeister  of Lake Lenore, Margaret (Adam) Maksuta of Swan River, MB,  Kathy (Gord) Lieffers of Sherwood Park, AB,  Lorna (ƚNick) Schreiner of Humboldt, Donna (Mark) Staudinger of Calmar, AB,  Douglas (Melanie) Lessmeister of Smeaton, SK, and Derrick (Paula) Lessmeister of Spiritwood, SK; 23 grandchildren: Leeanne Najborowski, James Dyck, Jason and Rachele Maksuta, Marlin Swan, Karen Sarah and Eric Lieffers, Steven, Nicole, Matthew, Pamela and Kimberly Schreiner, Gail, Susan, Adam, Linda and Rebecca Staudinger, Andrew, Michael, Stephanie, Calleigh and MacKenzie Lessmeister and their spouses; and 24 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 10 brothers and sisters.  Fran was predeceased by her husband Albert; 2 brothers: Neil and Raymond; her parents John and Ethel (nee Cox) Koberinski; son-in-law Nick Schreiner; and 2 infant granddaughters who died at birth.  A Prayer Service was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church Humboldt, SK on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 8:00 p.m., officiated by Janice Dobmeier, with organist Darlene Cash.  Scripture readers were Ed Koberinski and Scott Lessmeister, and the eulogy was delivered by Gail Hermanson. A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church Humboldt, SK on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salihu.  Others taking part were: Gail Hermanson, crossbearer; Kiply Lukan and Valerie Paulson, scripture readers; Marj Lessmeister, intentions; Nicole, Les and Lynden Loessl, giftbearers; Karen Pfeiffer and Penny Stuckel, memorial table attendants; Loretta Schugmann as director with organist Marie Aubin and members of St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir, music ministry.  Honorary Pallbearers were “All those who shared in Frances’s life.”  Active Pallbearers were:  Steven Schreiner, Matthew Schreiner, Michael Lessmeister, Andrew Lessmeister, Jason Maksuta, Adam Staudinger and James Dyck.  Interment followed in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Cemetery Lake Lenore, SK.  Memorial Donations may be directed to Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Augustine Parish Centre.
