Florence Margaret Baran
May 10, 1934 – November 26, 2017

Florence Margaret (nee Kaun) Baran of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of Middle Lake, SK), passed away at her residence on Sunday, November 26, 2017.  She was 83 years of age.  Florence, the only child of Harry and Margaret (nee Thompson) Kaun was born on May 10, 1934, in Humboldt.  She grew up on the farm near Middle Lake and attended Middle Lake School. Florence completed her last two years of education at Concordia College in Edmonton.  After her schooling, she worked at the psychiatric hospital in Portage la Prairie, MB, for two years and then returned home. Florence met her husband, Walter Baran, at a barn dance near Middle Lake and they were married on July 3, 1954.  They moved to Moose Jaw as Walter’s career with Macleod stores began there.  Florence chose to leave the work force and raise their family of three children.   Because of Walter’s transfers with Macleod’s, the family lived in Humboldt, SK, St. Paul, AB, Creston and Kitimat, BC, and the last transfer was to Tisdale, SK.  They retired to Florence’s family farm in September, 1981. Florence suffered a stroke in 2013 and was lovingly cared for by her husband, Walter, until October 2017.  At that time, she became a resident of St. Mary’s Villa until November 26, 2017, when she passed away at the Humboldt District Hospital. Over the years, Florence loved camping, gardening and her flower beds.  Florence will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Walter Baran; their three children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren:   CHERYLL (Harvey) Fleischhacker and family, Catrina (Daniel) Pudrycki and children Taya, Tori, Damon and Shae,  Shallon (Cordelle) Rempel and children Nyah and Kyler, and Troy Fleischhacker;  MYLES (Sarah) Baran; and SHAUNA (Scott) O’Bertos and family, Ashley O’Bertos (John Herman)  and children Connor and Riley, and Lindsey O’Bertos (Chase Derkson).  She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Margaret “Peggy” (nee Thompson) Kaun; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adolph and Amelia (nee Schmidke) Baran.  A Memorial Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Saturday, December 4, 2017, at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor John Rapp.  Interment will take place at a later date.  Memorial donations may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church, Middle Lake, SK, S0K 2X0.
