Edna May Doell
January 16, 1926 – November 16, 2015

The death of Mrs. Edna May (nee Warner) Doell of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, occurred peacefully, November 16, 2015.  She was 89 years of age.  Edna was born on January 16, 1926 to Harry and Elizabeth (nee Stevens) Warner at home on their farm in the Lanigan district.  On September 12, 1945, Edna married Walter Doell at Watson, where they made their home throughout their lives together.  Five children, four daughters and one son, were born to them.  As well as being a busy homemaker and tending to the needs of her family, Edna assisted Walter with their dray business, which they operated until 1960.  She also worked as an assistant cook and in the laundry department at Watson Union Hospital.  Eventually, Edna became a Nurses’ Aide and was employed in that position until retiring in 1985.  It was so fitting for her to receive compassionate care at the Lodge where she passed away after having helped numerous people in her career.  The staff at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge provided a level of care Edna deserved, and gave the family peace of mind, knowing she was always cared for with dignity and respect.  Left to mourn are her three children:  Lyle (Alice) Doell, Linda (Bill) Thacyk, and Colleen Fletcher; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law:  Jean Warner and Pat Warner; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband,  Walter Doell (1997); two daughters:  Joanne (1960); Sharon (2000) and husband Thomas Betson (1991);  parents, Harry and Elizabeth May Warner; brother Leslie Warner (1982) and his wife Irene Warner (2008); sister Evelyn Brown (2010) and first husband James Byers (1965), and second husband Mac Brown (1976); sister Dorothy Fettes (2006) and her husband Harvey Fettes (2005); brother Mervyn Warner (2010); brother Earl Warner (2015); and son-in-law Donald Fletcher (2015).  The Anglican Funeral Service for Edna was held at the Trinity United Church, Watson, on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Paula Foster.  The eulogy was delivered by Jason Doell, and scripture readers were Connie Kerr and Melissa Stehr.  Music ministry was provided by members of the Trinity United Church Choir, accompanied by pianist Lisa Rempel.  Pallbearers were Jason Doell, Mark Thacyk, Brad Betson, Brent Fletcher, Curtis Fletcher and Chris Wickenheiser.  Interment   followed at the Watson Public Cemetery.   Memorial donations may be directed to either the Saskatchewan Diabetes Association or the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge.
