KRAUSE, EDWARD PETER “Steady”
April 24, 1950 - April 16, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Edward at the age of 66 at his home in Guernsey. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Larry (Lynda) of Bathurst, NB, and his sister Liz (Vic) Tessier of Calgary, AB, and their families, and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Connie in 2005; his mother Matilda in 2001; and his father Jacob in 1986.  “Steady”, as he was known in the community, grew up on a farm near Guernsey, and never lost his love of helping local farmers with seeding and (especially) harvesting. He was a mechanic by trade and very meticulous in his work at Guernsey Motors and Greve's Garage in Lanigan. He wasn't a fan of the newfangled cars with computers, but would happily pump your gas, give your vehicle a wheel alignment, or fix your farm tractor, and often worked overtime so you could get back to work sooner. After retirement he enjoyed his summer job of cutting the grass in Guernsey.  Ed loved helping his neighbours and friends and often drove them to their parties or appointments, and for many years he was the “designated driver” of the Guernsey Halloween bus. He was a big fan of country music, and was so excited in the past few years to finally attend the Craven Country Jamboree! Ed was also a big sports fan, and closely followed the Riders and Blue Jays.  He had a dry sense of humour and a great laugh. Ed loved “the big surprise” and would keep his plans a secret until just the right moment, when he would nonchalantly say something like “I arranged an underground tour of the (PotashCorp Lanigan) potash mine this afternoon!”  As we live in other provinces, we, Ed's family, wish to express our deepest appreciation to his relatives, neighbours and friends in the surrounding community (you know who you are) who went out of your way to befriend, help and secretly look after him in our absence.  A Celebration of Life was held in the Guernsey Community Centre on Saturday June 17th, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Guernsey Community Centre will be gratefully accepted. Please make cheques payable to the RM of Usborne and indicate IMO Edward Krause.
