DuWaynne Plaskan
July 29, 1940 – October 26, 2016

The death of Mr. Steve DuWaynne Plaskan, 76 years, of Manitou Beach occurred on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon.  DuWaynne was born on July 29, 1940 at home near Marean Lake to Steve and Anne (nee Barteluk) Plaskan.  He grew up there, attending the local school and completing his high school education at Porcupine Plain.  DuWaynne enjoyed a life long career with Sask Power, working in many different communities over the years.  He started as a Lineman in North Battleford, then moved on to different positions in Norquay, Moosomin, Weyburn and Canora, where he retired after 35 years.  On June 28, 1980, he married Audrey Johnston.  DuWaynne loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed curling and bowling as well as woodworking.  He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Elks Club in Moosomin.  Upon retirement, DuWaynne and Audrey moved to Marean Lake.  He kept himself busy helping a local farmer as well as working at the greenhouse.  In 2005, they moved to Manitou Beach where they have lived until the present. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Audrey Plaskan of Manitou Beach; his daughter MaDonna (Trueman) Anderson of Moosomin and family Joshua Anderson, Nicholas (Florence) Anderson and Aislinn Anderson (Cody); two stepsons, Dan Johnston (Monique) of Spruce Grove, AB and her son Adam, and Daron (Tanya) Johnston of Moosomin and family Austin Johnston and Ashley Johnston; sisters and brother:  Muriel (Hubert) Guy of Lintlaw, Geraldine Rachkewich of Tisdale, Jerome (Maxine) Plaskan of Regina, and Gloria (Wayne) Plaskan-Bertrand; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes Plaskan; second wife Myrna Plaskan; two sons Terrence Plaskan and Darren Plaskan; parents Steve and Anne Plaskan; and brother-in-law John Rachkewich.  The Funeral Service for DuWaynne was held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Hwy 5 East Humboldt, SK, officiated by Rev. Betty-Lou Skogen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in DuWaynne’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
