Douglas Allan Meeley
April 6, 1957 – February 13, 2018

The sudden and unexpected death of Douglas Allan Meeley of the Jansen District, occurred on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.  He was 60 years of age.  Doug was born on April 6, 1957, to Wilfred and Margaret (nee Krieger) Meeley in Lanigan, SK. He attended school in Esk and Lanigan.  Doug completed his Grade 12 in 1976, and worked on the farm with his Dad and Mum for a year before enlisting with the Air Force in 1977.  He took his training at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Edmonton, Alberta, and Borden, Ontario.  Doug was stationed at Baden Sollinger, West Germany, for four years where he worked as an Aero Engineer Technologist.  He attained the rank of Corporal.  Doug was then stationed back at Edmonton, where he stayed for six months.  He left the Forces to go into farming with his parents.  When his Dad passed away in 1998, Doug farmed along with his Mum until his passing.  He was also his Mum’s primary care giver.  Over the years, Doug’s leisure activities were hunting, watching westerns and war movies, and visiting friends and neighbours.  In his younger years, after retiring from the Services, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and went on a few road trips.  His greatest passion was his cats and dogs.  Doug will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Margaret (nee Krieger) Meeley; two brothers and two sisters:  Elmer Meeley of Logan Lake, BC; Linda (Ron) England of Wetaskiwin, AB; Fay (John) Perry of Indian Head, SK; and Don (Jacqueline) Meeley of Regina, SK; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts and uncles.  He was predeceased by his father, Wilfred Meeley (April 1998).  The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK, on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Al Hingley.  Readers were nieces Nadine Goldstone and Tina Watchman, and sister-in-law Jacqueline Meeley.  The tribute and words of remembrance were delivered by brother Don Meeley, and sister Fay Perry.   Interment followed at Jansen Cemetery.  In Doug’s memory, memorial donations may be directed to the Jansen Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Zion Lutheran Church, Jansen, SK.
