Donald Hill
August 27, 1934 – September 26, 2017

Surrounded by his family, Mr. Donald hill passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Donald was born August 27, 1934 to George and Pauline (nee Spear) Hill in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; United States.  It was there he received his education. After graduation he joined the Navy and Air Force and served for eight years. He then moved to Lock Haven to work as a T.V. repair and cable guy.  He also worked at Penntran as Design Engineer where he worked on the very first defibrillator; he designed power supply components for NASA, the police, the military and the medical field. He also worked on Boeing Aircrafts. This was his passion for 25 years until his retirement in the 90’s.  In July of 2006 Donald moved from his beloved eight acre mountainside acreage to Canada and never looked back. He loved Saskatchewan and its quiet, wide open prairies. Donald was a very hard working man and he could often be found in his shop wood turning, making things such as bowls and spoons. If he wasn’t turning wood he was fishing, hunting or going for relaxing walks over the hills or “mountains” as he called them, on his land.  Donald was a very humble person and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Donald will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine Hill and her three children and five grandchildren: Grant (Janice) Nystrom and children Wesley, Debra and Michael of Meacham; Mona (Lance Anderson) of Calgary; and Daryl (Laudalina) and children Corey and Kayla of Vernon, BC; his two sisters Bev Bruster of Bellfont, Pennsylvania and Patty Batdorf of Mesa, Arizona. Donald was predeceased by his parents George and Pauline Hill and three brothers Eugene Hill, Ronald Hill and Richard Hill. A Private Graveside family service was held at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Meacham, officiated by Rev. Cathy Coates. Memorial Donations in Donald’s memory may be directed to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
