David Peter Delwisch
June 26, 1943 – March 17, 2016

David Peter Delwisch passed away at Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK on Thursday, March 17, 2016.  He was 72 years of age and formerly lived in Humboldt, SK.  David was the fourth of seven children born to Henry and Helen (née Schwartz) Delwisch at their farm home in the Spalding district.  In November 1952, the family moved to a farm southwest of Archerwill, SK.  David continued his education at Echo Park School, a mile away from home.  In 1958, the Delwisch family moved to a farm a half-mile west of Archerwill, which made it more convenient for the children to attend high school.  After completing his education, David moved to Port Clements, BC, where he entered a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic apprenticeship.   On November 7, 1969, David married Joan Hillyard of Port Clements and they had four children.  David bought a gravel truck and backhoe and started his own business.  In 2006, he moved back home to Saskatchewan.  David is survived by four children and seven grandchildren:  Craig (Kari) Delwisch and daughters Lauren, Camryn and Erika of Quesnel, BC; Corrina (Scott) Hornidge and sons Alex and Curtis of MacKenzie, BC; Cheryl Delwisch and son Denby of Kamloops, BC; and Calvin (Patch) Delwisch and son Issac of Whitehorse, YT.  He is also survived by his six siblings:  Denis (Sandra) Delwisch of Archerwill, SK; Glenn (Lillian) Delwisch of Kamloops, BC; Sylvia Robillard of Humboldt, SK; Mervin (Linda) Delwisch of Campbell River, BC; Allan (Terry) Delwisch of Cranbrook, BC; Kathy (Leo) Wiebe of Codette, SK; and step-siblings: Laurence (Irma); Lorraine; Leonard (Lori); Jerry (Kathy); Rose (Lorne); and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his father Henry Delwisch; mother Helen Zimmer; step-father Joseph Zimmer; step-brother Joey; as well as brother-in-law Ernie Robillard.  The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel in Humboldt on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ryan Schnee.  Others taking part were:  Dori Cooke, organist; Glenn Delwisch, eulogist; Erika Delwisch, memorial poem; and Alex Hornidge, urn bearer.  Memorial donations may be directed to Parkinson Canada.
