Clarence Frederick Theisen
January 26, 1914 – September 12, 2021

The death of Clarence Frederick Theisen of Aspen Manor, Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK (and formerly of the Pilger district, SK) occurred at his residence on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the remarkable age of 107 years, seven months, and 17 days. Clarence was born on January 26, 1914, to Peter and Anna (nee Rindermann) Theisen at home on their farm in the Pilger district. He attended school at the old St. Bernard Church location and at Canvassback School. In June of 1950, Clarence married Ermina Lukan. They began their life together on a farm one mile east and a half-mile south of St. Bernard’s for some time, and later moved to a farm southwest of St. Bernard’s. Their union was blessed with five children, four daughters and one son. Throughout the years, Clarence pursued a number of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins from other countries, reading – especially the Western Producer, and both the Canadian and National Geographic magazines, playing cards with family and friends. As well, Clarence enjoyed fishing and hunting, was an avid sports fan who watched various games in person and on television, and bowled in a league with Ermina until he was over 100. He was most passionate about nature and the outdoors, and loved going for walks, driving through the countryside to look at the crops, and to simply sit outside in the sun listening to the birds sing. Clarence passed that love of nature on to his children. He kept active well into his 80s, and helped his son Marvin with the farming operation. Clarence was 102 when he and Ermina moved from the farm to the units at Bethany Pioneer Village, and he was 104 when they transferred to Aspen Manor at Bethany. Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Ermina (nee Lukan) Theisen; four children and their families: Marlene, Donna, Charlotte, and Eileen; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Marvin Theisen; parents, Peter and Anna (nee Rindermann) Theisen; and by three sisters and four brothers: Eleanore, Marie, George and twin Ludwig (who died in infancy), Louis, Joseph, and Margaret. The Celebration of Life was held in the Birch Manor Multipurpose Room, Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. The scripture reader was Marlene Cascagnette and the organist was Rhonda Baker. Urnbearers were Clarence’s daughters, Marlene, Donna, Charlotte and Eileen. Interment took place at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in the Pilger district. Memorial donations may be directed to Bethany Pioneer Village, P.O. Box 8, Middle Lake, SK, S0K 2X0.
